According to our mission :
"...we deeply investigate every day the problems faced on the field, aiming at creating innovative products specifically designed for each individual need and that guarantee unchanged quality and performance over time.”
A clear example of this Comet approach to the market is our IDS SERIES, the indestructible high pressure brass diaphragm pumps.
In 2017, thanks to the constant feedback and monitoring on the use of our products, we found a significant and widespread increase in a particular demand: farmers were asking for stronger sprayer pumps throughout the Mediterranean area.
In that year, the number of cases of damage to the support feet and bearings of IDS pumps increased significantly. This was incomprehensible, since the IDS line has always been the benchmark of excellence among sprayer pumps.
Thus, we engaged our sales force in an accurate analysis on the field: from fruit crops in eastern Turkey to olive groves in Andalusia.
The aim was to understand how to use the diaphragm pumps and sprayers on which they were fitted, and what problems the operators and repair mechanics had to face.
The first was the need to couple two pumps to have a double flow rate.
The easiest solution for coupling two pumps would have been to use an elastic interposition joint that could compensate for misalignment, a solution, however, too expensive for some markets.
We therefore opted for a female-female iron sleeve, obtaining the same result with a cheaper cost.
We also noted the increase in the size of air turbines (which we also mentioned in this article:
TRENDS: THE TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SPRAYERS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN
These large turbines needed, of course, much more power, causing the supplying pump to withstand greater and unexpected radial thrusts.
The information obtained thanks to this survey on the field was implemented in the company's CRM and shared with the R&D department.
After having assessed the size of the market, evaluated the improvements and defined a target-price that was acceptable to the market, we decided to create a new elite IDS series, precisely the IDS HD series, (Heavy-Duty).
A - UNPARALLELED LIFE
Oversized moving parts meet the most stringent requirements for power transmission, torque, axial thrust and misalignment, making the IDS series a substantially indestructible unit.
B - EASY MAINTENANCE
Thanks to the external manifolds, the valves can be immediately accessed by the operator, allowing quick and easy service operations.
C - EXTREME STURDINESS
All components in contact with fluids are made of brass, for the maximum resistance to abrasion and chemical compatibility.
In the new line, to compensate for even the heaviest misalignment between the two pumps working in pairs, we replaced the normal bearings with eight ball bearings made in Germany by the well-known FAG brand.
The support feet, which had been found to be the weakest part for this type of application, were implemented making them extremely strong (10 mm thick) to easily withstand the power transmission of oversized turbines.
Putting the knowledge of the market and our customers’ needs at the forefront is what made us world leaders in this sector for many years now. This vision will continue to support us on a constant path towards excellence.
